The makers of Ajith's 'Valimai' also announced that the film has received U/A certification from the censor board.
Following the release of its trailer, the makers of popular Kollywood actor Ajith Kumar’s Valimai have announced the release date of the film. The trailer was unveiled on December 30 and has already been trending on social media platforms. BayView Project LLP, the production banner bankrolling the film, announced on Friday, December 31 that the film is all set to hit the big screens on January 13, ahead of Pongal. They also revealed that the film has received U/A certification from the censor board.
The trailer which was released earlier, depicted how Ajith will essay the role of an intense cop. Following his intriguing role in Mankatha, fans cannot wait to watch Ajith as a cop. In the Valimai trailer, he tracks down a gang of motorcyclists who are suspects in several crimes but they manage to flee the scene. The rest of the story is likely to explore how Ajith unravels the clues left by them to solve the cases. Karthikeya Gummakonda has been roped in to essay the role of the antagonist. He helms the biker gang, while Huma Qureshi is seen as Ajith’s colleague in the film. The supporting cast includes actors like Yogi Babu, Bani, Sumithra, Achyunth Kumar, Raj Ayyappa and Pugazh, among others.
Sharing the trailer, the makers wrote on YouTube: “The fireworks begin now! Power-packed visuals and regal stunts filled #Valimai Trailer right here! Loaded with the ultra-classy and suave presence of #AjithKumar(sic),” The making video from Valimai, which features visuals from the sets, was also unveiled by the makers on December 14.
Along with high-octane bike stunts, the making video also included a message of hope shared by team Valimai. “When everything was alright, COVID-19 made our days tougher. We stood alongside everyone hoping for the light. Hoping to live. Hoping to love. Hoping to do what we love, despite hard times, people kept showering their love. It gave us more strength, hope and confidence. We were hoping to start shooting again,” the note read.

Tamil film Irandam Ulagam is a visually stunning
fantasy story set in an imaginary world that describes a love that
transcends human understanding of time and space writes S Saraswathi.
Be it Kadhal Kondein, 7G Rainbow Colony or Mayakkam Enna,
romance has always played an integral role in director Selvaraghavan’s
films and he has always approached it with his own distinctive style,
ignoring the time-tested formula.
With a tagline that reads ‘How far will you travel for love’, his latest film Irandam Ulagam, starring Arya and Anushka Shetty, has been generating a lot of buzz.
And just as the tagline suggests, the film is all about a love that
transcends time and space, exploring the possibility of a parallel
world.
The music too has been creating quite a sensation.
Harris Jayaraj handled the initial soundtrack, while later Anirudh
Ravichandar was signed to compose the film's background score.
Vairamuthu has penned the lyrics.
Irandam Ulagam,
which is dubbed in Telugu as Varna is produced by Param V Potluri for
PVP Cinema and is also being released in other languages such as Hindi,
Georgian, Russian and Turkish.
Irandam Ulagam revolves
around two love stories simultaneously occurring in two parallel
worlds. One is the real world we know and understand and the other is a
fantastical world filled with mythical creatures, enchanting forest,
mysterious hills, and majestic views of the horizon.
In the
real world, Anushka plays Ramya, a doctor, who is in love with Madhu
Balakrishnan (Arya), a college professor. While in the fantasy world,
she plays Varna, a high spirited, warrior-like character who deeply
values her freedom. She is desperately pursued by Maruva (Arya again),
who is madly in love with her.
Alternating between both worlds,
the story progresses smoothly, like your average love story, until just
before the interval, when the director introduces a dramatic twist.
The visual experience created by cinematographer Ramji is truly
spectacular. He deserves full credit for bringing to life a beautiful
new world, a magical place shrouded in mystery and filled with brilliant
colours.
The music heightens the atmosphere and Anirudh has
done exceptionally well. The songs, the lyrics, the picturisation as
well as the vocals, everything fits beautifully.
Both
Selvaraghavan and Arya are known to experiment with their films and
characters and have been quite successful. In fact, 2013 has proved to
be a great year for Arya, who had two back-to-back box office hits, Raja Rani and Arambam.
Anushka not only shares equal screen space with Arya, but also plays
quite a significant role. In fact, the story revolves around her and she
has performed admirably.
Though a lot of effort and hard work has been put in by the entire team, the result is not quite what you expect.
The film has an unreal fairytale-like quality that prevents us from
feeling the intensity, passion and pain of the characters. It seems more
like a child’s bed-time story.
Everything from the unique costumes, make-up and body language gives the film a storybook and dream-like quality.
Irandam Ulagam is an ambitious project by a director who always strives to give a different and unique experience to his audience.
Both Ajith's "Arrambam" and "Veeram"'s title designs have been released on consecutive days providing double dose of excitement for fans.
Ajith's 53 - Arrambam
The highlight of Arrambam title is the interesting use of universally recognized icon of 'power on' or 'reboot' to symbolically communicate that the movie will mark new beginnings in Ajith's career. As revealed by unit members, the story has strong linkage to computer hacking and internet security as part of the script. In fact, director Vishnuvaradhan had disclosed that "Valai" (Web) was the tentative working title before they zeroed in on Arrambam. The first look poster will be released shortly within the next 24 hours.
Ajith's 54 - Veeram
Another Ajith movie that has been making brisk progress is Siruthai Siva's "Veeram". The title design is conservative in terms of pushing the creative boundaries. But, what has come in for a pleasant surprise is the first look poster of Veeram showing Ajith in ethnic wear which is in direct contrast compared to Arrambam. Ajith was last seen sporting such a look was for Saran's "Attagasam" almost a decade ago.
The makers of Ajith's "Veeram" have confirmed that the film will hit screens during the Pongal festival. However,
an exact release date has not yet been revealed. It is likely to
release on 10th October, a few days ahead of the harvest festival.
Vijaya Productions, producers of the film, have assured that the Ajith starrer will be a real treat for fans. Ajith
will don a rusty look in the film, which audiences haven't seen in the
past few years. "Thala" (Ajith is fondly referred by this name) has been
doing stylish roles since "Billa" released in 2007. His traditional
attire combined with his trademark salt and pepper hair gives him the
typical mass hero look in "Veeram".
Ajith is reportedly playing a lively character in "Veeram"
that is sure to impress his fans. The film's shooting is expected to be
completed in a few days. The makers have already begun the
post-production work, in order to release the film on the scheduled
date.
Synopsis: Sivakumar ( Vishal) is a timid young man, with a loving family in Madurai. His brother, a government official, earns the wrath of Simmakkal Ravi (Sharath Lohitashwa), the all-powerful gangster in the city. When he is murdered, Sivakumar and his father Kalayanasundaram (Bharathirajaa) plan to take revenge, in their own separate ways.
Review: After the hard-hitting urban romance Aadhalal Kadhal Seiveer, Suseenthiran gives us a smartly-written action drama. Like his Naan Mahan Alla, this film too is about a family whose harmony is shattered by anti-social elements, and the consequential quest for revenge by the hero. But that film was an uneven one, swaying between excessive cuteness and extreme violence. But, here, the director manages to find a balance between the 'family moments' and the action. Also, the family at the centre of this film feels real enough and not overtly cinematic.
The film initially plays out in parallel tracks — on one, we are introduced to the family of Sivakumar, which includes a retired father, a doting mother, a supportive brother and sister-in-law, and their talking-beyond-her-years child. Meanwhile, on the second track, we get to see the ruthless ascension of Simmakkal Ravi into Madurai's most feared man. His only real challenger is Sivappu Ravi, who, like him, was also a protege of his late mentor. He takes him out of the picture in one swift move, and gets everyone from ministers to cops in his pocket and makes the city his own.
These two tracks meet when Siva's brother, whose conscience begins to trouble him after a spate of deaths in Ravi's quarry, writes about the illegal work going on there, which results in the place being sealed off. Ravi kills him in an ingenious way. With his son's death gnawing at him, the shattered Kalyanasundaram, without the knowledge of his family, tries to hire paid killers to murder Ravi, while Shiva, with some help from his friend Ganesan, plots to kill Ravi at an opportune moment.
It is always satisfying when a filmmaker puts in some amount of thought into a genre film. In Pandiya Nadu, we can see Suseenthiran's attempts to provide something fresh to a worn-out revenge tale in the little touches he adds to the scenes. He shows Siva as a docile man who has a tendency to stammer when situations get tense — he even lets a man stop his bike and slap him in the middle of the road. Later, to demonstrate his bravery to school teacher Malar (Lakshmi Menon), with whom he has fallen in love, and who is, incidentally, his tenant, Siva seeks the help of his tough guy friend Sethu (Vikranth). So, when he tries to exact revenge, Siva doesn't instantly turn into an angry young man — a one-man army demolishing all the villains; that happens much, much later. Instead, we are shown how he plots Ravi's murder. He begins by tracking the man 24X7, and since we are earlier shown Siva's profession (mobile phone repairing), we buy into his method to track Ravi.
Little details like the movies playing in the theatre where Siva observes Ravi (Kalakalappu the first time and Soodhu Kavvum after a year), Ravi's boast to Siva's brother that he has a fleet of buses, and Kalyanasundaram's ability to hire paid killers (his friend is a lawyer) go a long way in not only making the events plausible but also add depth to the plot. Even the sub-plot involving Siva's friend Sethu is brought into the main plot in a nifty way.
And, surprisingly, there are no bonding scenes between Siva and Kalyanasundaram. For the father, his second son is a mild let down; he isn't in a great job like his elder brother and is also not brave enough, though he doesn't hate or curse him for that. So, when we see the old man taking it upon himself to find closure, we are not surprised. And, Bharathirajaa is fantastic in the role, finding the right pitch that neither makes the character melodramatic nor underplayed.
The film's sore point is the romantic track, and one suspects even Suseenthiran was less interested in this side of the story. So, Lakshmi Menon comes across as an unavoidable necessity. There are also times when the director goes a little overboard in the emotional scenes — when Kalyanasundaram is about to light his son's pyre, he cuts to a shot of a nurse with a baby announcing that he has a son. And, the action sequences, especially the climatic one, feel fairly routine. When we see one (so far meek) man taking on almost two dozen guys, it seems rather unimaginative in an otherwise clever film
